The Jackson 5 performed "Mama's Pearl" to open a medley that also included "Walk On" and "The Love You Save" Diana! special that aired in April of 1971. The special had been filmed the previous December, which explains why they sang "Mama's Pearl" instead of "Never Can Say Goodbye." I found two notices of the concert in Mobile, Alabama, which closed out the Holiday Tour on January 3, 1971. It was announced today that "I'll Be There" is one of the the 30 songs that will be inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011. While looking for other footage on YouTube the other day, I stumbled across this home movie footage, narrated by Michael, showing the Jackson 5 in their early years. Looks like the BBC finally got around to reviewing ABC. Their reviewer describes it as "...just enough soul, just enough raunch, lashings of pathos, all bound together with an elegant sufficiency of feel-good sentiment." Nice!I just love how seriously British critics have always taken the Jackson 5, not to mention their descriptive prose. Talk about your elegant sufficiency!

I think the Philippines may have issued the entire Christmas Album as a series of 45s, but so far as I know, the only LP songs from ABC they issued were "2-4-6-8" backed with "La La Means I Love You."It's one of my all-time favorite 45s, just because it was such a great 45 release.
